Beautiful Curves made for the Ocean – The McConaghy 50 “FINN” Trimaran
A while back – in the pre-Covid days – I was lucky enough to be invited to sail on FINN, the stunning, custom McConaghy 50 trimaran. The original owner of this yacht, Clint Clemens showed me around the boat and pointed out the smallest details. Clint is very knowledgeable in matters multihulls as he was involved in the development of the very first Gunboat 60 SAFARI and her sistership TRIBE.
FINN easily sailed at over 20knots while remaining completely docile at the helm. We tore around Newport RI. harbor. The main rudder is retractable and all components on the boat seem to be overbuilt. FINN has a proper cruising interior that is warm, cozy, yet airy and bright. This is the perfect cruising machine to go anywhere in speed and comfort for 4 people. According to Clint he had absolutely no problems in terms of warranty issues which again emphasizes McConaghy Boats’ expertise in building exceptional yachts, whether for racing or cruising. In the mean time FINN has passed hands and now is continuing to enjoy life in the fast lane.
