This listing is for a new 2020 Neel 51 Trimaran with a ca. 10 month delivery from order (in water La Rochelle, France)
The Neel 51 trimaran is the winner of the prestigious 2019 SAIL Magazine Best Boats Contest, the 2018 European Yacht of the Year as well as the winner of the 2018 Multihull of the Year. Why is the international press so in love with this cruising multihull?
To start off – the Neel 51 has the by now famous “Cockloon”. How could you not smile? The name of this area resulting from the combination of the cockpit and saloon, offering a unique and innovative new space for a multihull with a wide entrance. How many cruising multihulls exist with a flybridge? Many. But how many of these can actually sail at 20 knots and be operated by a single sailor? The Neel 51 trimaran combines high average boat speeds with easy maneuvers by a husband and wife team. This cruising multihull is perfectly at home in the Caribbean, sailing from island to island in spirited stints, as well as ideally capable of taking 4 families safely and swiftly around the world. Exploring small inlets are easily mastered with the Neel 51 trimaran’s shallow draft and maneuverability, thanks to her single diesel engine and bow thruster. Who says you need two engines to rotate a cat?
The Neel 51 has a true flybridge with proper seating and a huge sun lounge forward. The helmsmen can communicate both with the guests on the flybridge as well as friends in the cockpit and galley below. Just as on the smaller Neel trimarans the Neel 51 trimaran running rigging is cebntralized and driver focused at the helm station. Reefing, furling and raising sails, as well as tacking, sail adjustments and anchoring are all accomplished without even leaving the seat. Yes, you can even tack by pushing a button…
And we have not even talked about the Neel 51 trimaran state of the art construction. Built in a vacuum infusion Vynilester process, this multihull uses foam as her core, eliminating most of the osmosis risk associated with balsa cored production catamarans. Note that the vast majority of today’s catamaran are built with balsa core to save costs.
The interior of the Neel 51 trimaran could fill an entire chapter of a book. The main deck houses a large Master Suite with its own head, a C-shaped chef galley, a forward facing navigation station that can seat three as well as a spacious L-shaped, aft facing dinette that opens to the “Cockloon” (here we go again). The Neel 51’s hulls are reserved for guest where friends can relax in three double cabins weith ensuite heads and forward compartments in each bow that can either be turned into a single berth or additional storage. The technical compartments of the Neel 51 trimaran have the volume of a much larger yacht and are situated in the large central “basement” and twin aft storage areas in the amas.
The real joy of owning a Neel 51 trimaran is sailing the boat. Why wait? Contact Aeroyacht to reserve your exclusive private tour with the Neel factory in La Rochelle, France. Best is – if you sign at the yard we will pay for your flight. Gregor Tarjan will provide you with an in depth look at all phases of construction and design of this innovative trimaran. We will organize “meet and greets” with the principals of the Neel Company, sit down to define your personal Neel as well as test sail on a Neel 51 trimaran.
