Specifications of the McConaghy 62 catamaran
Overview of the McConaghy 62 multihull:
The entire McConaghy catamaran range from 52 to 100′ were designed as super-flybridge yachts that can approach sailing at wind speed. The MC62 is no exception, formerly known as the MC60, she can approach cruising speeds which are very close to the True Wind. In a 15-knot breeze you will sail at 15 knots. Thanks to a meticulous control of weight owner’s will experience sailing unlike on any other catamaran. Sailing in utmost luxury at double digit speeds, effortlessly and safely.
Unlike many other high-performance catamarans – the McConaghy 62 has been designed and engineered with safety as its core parameter. Potentially hazardous daggerboards which could create a hull breach have been avoided and replaced by a simple but highly effective push-button centerboard system – a first in this luxury multihull market segment. In the retracted position the centerboard is completely flush with the hull, yet full deployed a high aspect draft of nearly 9’ rivals the most efficient windward foils. In case of striking an underwater object, the centerboards will automatically raise and avoid damage to the hull structure. Thanks to her specially controlled vacuum infusion process of pressed panels of E-glass/Epoxy, carbon-hybrid composite foam construction the McConaghy 62 multihull is much lighter than similar length catamarans, yet she is luxurious, safe and immensely stiff. Like the last generation of America’s Cup foiling catamarans which are so strong and light that they do not need a fwd. crossbeam, the McConaghy 62’s stiffness and full carbon longeron also allow for this elimination of the forward crossbeam, which further lightens this amazing yacht.
The McConaghy 62 multihull has a streamlined “super-fly”-bridge like much larger vessels yet is a true luxury Grand Prix style yacht. She has a multitude of innovative features, such as a completely opening, all glass aft salon doors and giant sliding side salon windows. This means that most of the time, even in pouring rain you can enjoy an “open” platform with full protection from the elements. The MC62 is also the only high-speed catamaran with a highly efficient flybridge, which provides not only a perfect social gathering space, but also lets the helmsman fully control this thoroughbred from one single control station.
Of course, the interior of the MC62 is top class and only the finest woods and hardware are used throughout. All joinery is custom built and finished to McConaghy Boats uncompromising high-quality standards.. The modern interior is constructed using a mix of hand-painted surfaces and lightweight, exotic wood laminates with soft fabric accents. There are a variety of layouts to choose from.
From the advanced DC-switching system which you can control from your I-pad to the four standard electric radial winches on the flybridge the MC62 is a push button, no-compromise yacht. The McConaghy 62 catamaran is built in the same production facility, by the same passionate craftsmen using the techniques employed on the worlds most advanced super-maxis and hardcore racing yachts. This means the attention to weight control (the enemy of fast cats), detail and engineering is like in no other yard. This performance cruising catamaran is the perfect blend of luxury and high tech. Think next-gen fighter jet meets a New York style luxury loft apartment.
