Yacht Business Ownership:
How does it work?
In 2016 the US government formulated a permanent stimulus package (Section 179) – whereby small businesses could write off a large percentage of their business tools in the first year as well as accelerate their depreciation. Aeroyacht can assist you in establishing a small charter business where you take “active” participation. By “active” we mean that you need to spend more than 100 hours actively participating in the business and this could mean familiarization inspection of your asset (yacht), marketing trips or even part time skippering for hire. As long as you keep clear records of your activities the small business tax laws permit you to apply what is called Section 179 deductions and/or accelerated depreciation of your business tool, which effectively is your charter yacht.
Benefits:
Depending on your tax bracket and income situation you can take advantage of up to 500,000 US$ as a Section 179 business deduction but also use an accelerated depreciation.
