5 Highlights of the McConaghy 75
McConaghy 75′ catamaran hull Nr. 2 is taking shape at the company’s high tech yard just outside of Hong Kong. Aeroyacht had the privilege to visit the build with our client last month.
Here are 5 things to know about the McConaghy 75 multihull:
1.) This catamaran is equipped with centerboards (not keels or even daggerboards). These pivoting 15′ long centerboards retract on impact and provide the boat with a shallow draft. This is the only large multihull in the world with this system.
2.) The MC75 is built using advanced technology. The boat has no conventional crossbeam but rather a high strength longeron. The superstructure is 75% carbon. In high load areas carbon pre-preg construction is used to save weight.
3.) The McConaghy 75 catamaran – just as all the multihulls from the builder have giant, electrically sliding windows on the side of the salon, which allow for an unrivalled living experience and cross ventilation. No other sailing multihull has this feature.
4.) All McConaghy multihulls are equipped with high aspect ratio, carbon rigs giving owners a true Grand Prix style sailing experience. The boat will sail at windspeed in only 7 knots of wind!
5.) The MC75 is built by one of the most experienced multihull yards in the world and the builder has a 55 year storied history of building the worlds most highly engineered yachts. They also built all the AC40 Americas Cup racing foilers for the upcoming America’s Cup to be held in 2024 in Barcelona.
